That’s a wrap…

What a week! I feel as though I’ve barely drawn breath – but then I suppose that’s what happens when there’s so much on.

I did, of course, celebrate my 50th birthday last Sunday – well, the birthday was officially on Sunday, but the celebrations seemed to go on and on. Thank you to everyone who has helped me in some way mark this milestone. I had a fabulous weekend visiting with my family at Alex Headland, and, despite flying home early on my birthday, a great (unexpected) afternoon and evening with family and friends.

Ok, without further ado, let’s wrap this week up.

Where we lunched…

At the Beach House Peter Kuruvita, Noosa. We had the 5 pot curry lunch and to say it was fabulous would be under-selling it. I normally like a spicy curry, but the snapper curry is one of the yummiest curries I’ve eaten. Full of flavour, yet balanced enough to allow the snapper to shine. Hubby’s fave was the egg curry. Plus, it was amazing value $38 per head for curries and all the side bits and pieces.

Where we breakfasted…

Brekky on my birthday was at Elliott’s at Alexandra Headland. I posted something on it the other day.

What I also blogged…

Something about seeking permission to use lyrics in commercial fiction. You’ll find it here – on the author site.

What made me miserable…

I had a bit of a head cold the other day – bad enough to have me log my first sick day at work since, wait for it…2010. Yes, you heard it right. 2010. I suspect that I was well overdue to get something. I texted my boss at 6am, rolled over and slept until 8am when the howls of the dog – still outside and not at all happy about it – woke me. I must have needed those extra few hours. Anyways, all I was capable of was tissues and re-runs of The Good Wife – so I gave in to that.

What made me a tad weepy…

Watching our beautiful dining table drive off this afternoon. We have both a casual and a formal dining room here, but don’t in our new home, so had to let one table go. Unfortunately this one – a formal mahogany dining table – would never fit in the more relaxed style. This table was one of the first important purchases that hubby and I made together when we first moved to Sydney.

What I’ve been sneakily working on in the background…

A new website devoted solely to the Sunshine Coast. I’ve popped a few posts in, but will post weekly to here once we’re settled. It will be walks, sights, restaurants, markets, in season recipes – that sort of thing.

I’ve stolen borrowed the web address from Debbish’s Fraser Coast blog – mainly because I needed something Sunshine Coast. The title is Navigator – the hungry writer makes a sea-change. I’ve kept the same theme, and the same sea turtle logo – and explain here where the title comes from – as I have with and anyways (the rambles of a hungry writer).

It’s funny, but I’ve been reading a lot lately about people rationalising blogs and focusing their attention on one area of life. At the moment it feels right for me to do the opposite.

What I instamarked this week…

I’ve been dreaming of Spring in England, so have been instamarking accordingly. Of course, there’s also the usual amount of ocean and turtle inspo.

The meme that made me giggle…

Ok, this is an oldie, but it is SO me…

What I’m looking forward to…

Next week…it’s moving week! Wish us luck…

How was your week?

  1. Oh that’s exciting about the new site. When I set up Frasercoasting I set it up thinking a few local bloggers would contribute and gave a couple of friends access, but one was only in town temporarily and the other stopped blogging. Alas…

Sorry to hear you were unwell. See, you didn’t whinge about that OR the packing!

    1. I do the same on my blog- so much. There’s a pet shop boys or abba lyric for every life scenario…

  2. You haven’t had a sick day since 2010? Surely that gets you some sort of prize for perfect attendance!

  3. Happy belated birthday you are now officially at the best time of life! Congratulations on the new website. I live in Brisbane so will be following your blogs about the Sunshine Coast which is just next door! Enjoy your week.

  4. Well..as others have said “one sick day since 2010” wow! Glad you took the day off. It’s been one heck of a ride since you decided to sell and that takes it out of us…I know! Looking forward to seeing your blog post next week (no pressure) because you will no longer be a Hills Resident but a Sunny Coast one. Oh the ‘dress code’ is amazingly better and more comfy!! Just keep a few of those Sydney-sider things for when you need to do the Big Smoke gigs … Hope it goes well, Jo. xxx
Thanks for linking up for #lifethisweek 12/52. Next week: 3 Month Review 2017.
