The Philly Barker Series

If you love the TV shows The Great British Bake-off, Antiques Roadshow, and Midsomer Murders, and you like your crime without the gory bits, you’ll love this charming new cosy crime series set in the fictional North Yorkshire village of Chipwell.

Chipwell is one of those villages with a pub – The Chipwell Arms – a church and some stone cottages. Mostly though, it’s home to Chipwell Barn Antique Centre – and its cast of quirky dealers. Are you ready to meet Philly Barker?

Philly Barker Investigates is the first book in a series of cosy crime novels set in the fictional Yorkshire village of Chipwell starring Philomena Barker, a middle-aged antique dealer. Philly, an accidental investigator, is ably assisted by her cocker spaniel, Balthazar; her sidekick, Inspector Robbie Dawkins; and the quirky dealers from Chipwell Barn Antiques.

There’s Ambrose and Eugene – the septuagenarian tweed-loving militaria trading brothers – and their cranky cat Rochester; Simon, the furniture man, and his succession of band t-shirts; cat-like Bell who sells vintage fashion and accessories; and the Proctors – Tamsin and Henry – who sell antiques meant for the outdoors and who remind Philly a little of Tom and Barbara Good from The Good Life. Finally, there’s Ginny, who runs the teahouse at the barn and produces amazing scones, pies, and parkin.

Escape To The Country

The Brookford Series

Imagine a quintessential Cotswolds village nestled between gently rolling hills; with a High Street full of butchers, bakers and candlestick makers, independent and quirky shops, pubs and restaurants serving world-class food and local produce; a Norman church, and curving streets lined with cottages built from the local honey-coloured stone. It’s a place where bluebells grow wildly in the woods, where it’s not unusual to see children herding a gaggle of geese down a country lane, and it’s a place where you’ll want to settle in and get to know the locals.

Welcome to Brookford…

Escape to Curlew Cottage

Beach Road Cafe Series

Beach Road Cafe sits by Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown – although if you ever went to Queenstown (and you absolutely should as soon as the borders open) you wouldn’t find it there as it exists purely in my imagination.

Each of the novels in this series is set at least partly in Queenstown. You’ll tramp (that’s Kiwi for hike) fabulous tracks (that’s Kiwi for hiking trail), eat some fabulous food, and meet some fabulous characters.
