Friday Five…

IMG_7750

It’s a cloudy afternoon here in Sydney as I write this weeks’ update. A week of yet more changes here in Chez Tracey- the biggest of which I’ll tell you about next week. Don’t worry, I think it will be exciting and, in the immortal words of Little Mix, I want to shout it from the rooftops…but not quite yet.

It’s been a light week on the blogging front- nothing at all on the astro page, and just two for this site. I managed a quick post on some peanut butter chocolate chip cookies that lasted, whoa, all of about ten minutes; and something else on finishing the re-write for the novel formerly known as Finding John Smith. I’m still playing with alternative titles. I’m thinking I might just put all the possibilities into a hat and just pick one out. It’s funny- I didn’t have this issue with either Baby, It’s You or Big Girls Don’t Cry, but then nothing about this book has been like the last two.

Anyways, without further ado, to the five…

What I had another go at…

Vivid.

Not that we were in town specifically for that- rather it was a farewell for my BMF and partition boss down at the Opera Bar.

Here’s a selfie I took after my first cocktail…

you’ll notice there wasn’t an after photo… If you follow me on instagram, you probably also saw us mucking about in the Belvedere photo booth.

Oh and Vivid? You’re probably over the photos by now, but here’s another…

Some random photos of cocktails…

Just because…

This one, ordered by a colleague- not just once, but twice- was created especially for Vivid. It had little particles of sugar that rushed through the air and attached themselves to everything.

Ok, I exaggerate, but it was ridiculously sweet. Not like mine- mine was minty and limey and mohito-y.

Why I brushed my hair…

Yep, you heard it right. When you have hair like mine, ie very thick and curly, you don’t brush it for fear of creating enough static electricity to power the grid. But brush it I did in aid of dressing up for a 70’s themed party. I was going for that look that you need a wind machine for. I teamed it with a leather belt around my hair and enough blue eyeshadow and lip-shine to make Agnetha from Abba jealous.

Speaking of Agnetha from Abba, I might have thought I sounded like her at more than a few points during the night…and Frida…

What I’m concerned about…

Mr T is on long service leave and has been buying power tools. Enough said.

What I’m listening to…

The West Wing podcast. This one isn’t just for West Wing fans (like myself), it’s also a great reference for writers. The hosts (one of whom is Joshua Malina- he played Will Bailey on the West Wing and is David Rosen on Scandal) run through episode by episode. In doing so, they talk about plot points, sub-plots, the things that worked and didn’t work in the writing, and the way that the shows creator- Aaron Sorkin- uses devices like the walk and talk to show not tell.

How was your week?

  1. I loved the pics you shared on Instagram etc and the one of you at the Opera Bar is a really lovely pic.

I’ve been hearing good things about the West Wing podcast. Am yet to get into the whole podcast thing, but should I realise…

    1. I’ll be switching my daily drive commute to a daily bus commute- hoping I can keep up with the podcasts then…
