So anyways, I’m writing this with the house smelling wonderful. I have what will become a beef rendang simmering away on the stovetop, and what used to be coconut- before it was dry fried into toasty yumminess- smelling awfully like anzac biscuits in the mortar. Or is it pestle? Either way, I’ve smashed it about a bit and now its a sort of dark coconutty, anzacy paste. It’s a bit of a palaver to do, but really is the essential ingredient to the rendang recipe I use. If you’re interested, the link is here.
I’m supposed to be not working in the partition on Fridays, so those Fridays when I do go into the office- which is, let’s face it, most Fridays- I try and get home early enough to cook something yummy. It’s my way of putting a fullstop on the working week. Last week it was chicken kapitan– one of my hubby’s faves. Yep, hashtag wifeoftheyear, hashtag domesticdiva.
What I’ve been cooking…
Obviously, Ayam Kapitan and Beef Rendang. The recipes I use are from Adam Liaw’s Two Kitchens– one of my most used cookbooks. You can tell how well it’s been used by the splashes and crumbs.
Lunch of the year…
Ormeggio on the Spit. I’m not sure whether it was the views, the food, the company, the occasion, or all of the above, but this was a lunch we’ll remember for a long time.
The occasion? Hubby’s birthday, of course!
I won’t bore you with a description of the food, but first we had…
then we had…
then we finished with…
which all led to…
Selfie of the week…
What I ticked off…
It was a seriously productive week- both in and out of the partition. I finished my copy edit, completed one pass through on the proof read, signed off on my new cover, signed off on a matching website banner for here, got the tax done, and the pest control have been through so the house won’t be taken over by redback spiders in our absence. Not bad for a week!
What I’m counting down to…
Holidays! Just two weeks to go…
A busy week for you! I like the look of your mains at lunch! And beef rendang? Delicious! But very exciting that the next book is getting close to its final stages… (Not to mention the impending holiday!)
