And, that’s a wrap…

Did you notice the change of title? Friday Five seemed a tad obsolete when:

  • Lately it hasn’t been posted on Friday and
  • Sometimes it’s been more than five!

So, without further ado…

Where I went for the first time…

Actually, that probably came out wrong- the answer is much less interesting- or more interesting, depending on your persuasion… We attended our very first AFL final, and my first ever game in Sydney. It was a local derby and the last AFL game at the stadium, so it was a big crowd- by Sydney standards. But, and Sydney-siders put your fingers in your ears, as good as it was, the atmosphere is nothing to how it feels watching a game at a sold-out MCG. Just saying.

What I wish I hadn’t heard…

‘I was hoping to reach out for some face-time with you…’ Yes, really. What happened to ‘I’m glad I got to see you…’?

Where I lunched…

img_9539

Lunch with the girls this weekend was at the Opera Bar. And yes, I probably should take out shares in the place, but seriously, there are few places better. I’d just finished a 12.5km walk around the harbour, but I’ll tell you about that later…

What I’m snapping photos of…

img_9617

Other people’s wisteria. Is there any better colour in the whole world? Other than jacaranda purple and bluebell blue, of course…

What I discovered…

img_9626

The off-road “bush” trails through Fred Caterson Reserve just down the road from me. I need some off-road time to mix it up with my walking in preparation for Milford Track, but to go to any of the national parks is another 2 hours out of my day in addition to the walking time- and when your weekend is as tightly scheduled as mine, that two hours makes a big difference.

It’s not serious kays, but the track is uneven in parts and it’s much prettier than Showground Rd or Gilbert Rd could ever be.

Today I saw the last of the wattle and these gorgeous little bright-blue breasted wrens. It’s walking where you don’t need your ear-phones to drone out the traffic.

What I’m glad about…

img_9579

That it’s havaianas weather again. I bought these little beauties in Bali back in May and have been dying to slip them on. They’re special edition Liberty for Havaianas…man, I’m such a brand junkie…

What I’m appreciating…

Footaphobes (yes, I just made that word up) turn away now. A friend put me onto these toe socks when I was training for Routeburn Track a couple of years ago. They look seriously weird, but if you are one of those people who gets blisters on the sole of their foot, or between their toes or has nails dig into toes…too much information?…if you are susceptible to that, these will be your new best friends.

A random corgi photo…

img_9577

We were dog-sitting my parent’s corgi during the week. His name is Tuftan and he’s a good listener.

What I blogged…

On the astro site there are a few posts about the upcoming Full Moon and eclipse, and on the writing site, there’s a recipe written by Maxine Henderson. Max is the heroine in my soon to be released novel, Wish You Were Here, and she makes the best ever chocolate bread and butter pudding. If you want to keep up with release dates and special release prices, duck over and sign up to the newsletter…I’ll get around to sending one soon…

Enough about me, how was your week?

  1. I saw that you’d gone to the footy and wondered if you’d been hiding a secret penchant for years….

I remember toe socks being a thing when I was younger. Do they make your shoes squishier?
