Alrighty, it’s been a couple of months since we did one of these, but here’s the out-and-about on the Sunshine Coast in November foodie post …
Posh Nosh …

With Sarah heading to the UK we celebrated early with lunch at The Spirit House, an old favourite of ours in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
Where they used to offer a shared menu, these days it’s a fixed-price three-course menu. Grant and I opted to swap dessert for some small bites, while Sarah stuck with the entree, main and dessert model.

The food was as good as we remembered it being and the best bit is we have another booking in a couple of weeks when our Kiwi friends are in town for Christmas.

Not so posh nosh …
One of the best things about having house guests from interstate is showing off how fabulous the food is here on the Sunny Coast – hence our visit to Giddy Geisha in Maroochydore where many dishes – including their not-to-be-missed eggplant chips were shared.

On Monday before flying out Sarah took me to lunch at Bocca in Bokarina. We shared some bread and antipasti and it was a lovely mother-daughter catch-up.

Not at all posh nosh …

Grant and I enjoyed post Writer’s Group Friday lunches at our new favourite lunchtime Indian – Sankalp in Maroochydore for dosai and thali (and Grant loves their mango lassi); and our fave Vietnamese on the coast – Somewhere on Buderim.
When we had a friend staying I took her up to Somewhere and she loved it so much she insisted on going again the next day.

So tasty, so healthy, so good.

Amazing food and amazing photography as usual, Jo!

Hi, Jo – When RIchard and I were staying in Maroochydore (February 2010), we tried to get into Spirit House but they were either closed or had no room for us (we did not have reservations). Either way, we are definitely sorry that we missed out (especially seeing the great dishes that you highlighted here). Beautiful photography!
You have to book so far in advance – even back then.
It all looks so lovely.
It’s 5.20 in the morning and now I’m absolutely starving having read and salivated over the photos of all the delicious food you have enjoyed. I might need to book a foody trip to the Sunny Coast
Wow, it all looks so good! All levels of poshnish (poshisity? poshisness?) are okay with me.
You are certainly spoilt for choice up on the Sunshine Coast, Jo. I would love to go to the Spirit House so perhaps I need to make that a 2024 goal. As always your photos are stunning and I feel I could just dip my fork into the screen and have a taste. #WOYP
Wow these all look and sound delicious Jo.
Looks wonderful! I have a friend from the Sunshine Coast, but she married an American and lives here now. Came over from your post about Sunday lunch in Haworth. Reminded me that it’s been far too long since I visited Haworth, more than 30 years ago. Fortunately, I had the requisite ‘buns of steel’ you mentioned at that time, so the steep high street was nearly a doddle. Looking at your plate, though, I couldn’t help wondering, Where’s the mash. Roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding are wonderful, of course, but I must have mashed potatoes! The Bronte sisters were contemporaries of my great great grandfather who lived down the road just 14 miles from them. Wonder if he was even aware of them?
Hi Jean, it’s lovely to have you here. We were talking to a publican in Malton one time about the potato conundrum (I’m a roastie with a roast girl) and he was very much on the double spud bandwagon – roast and mash.
Jo you always eat great food – and take very appetizing photos of it all. I could count on one hand the number of time I ate out anywhere in November (probably even less than that) and none of it looked like the stuff you manage to consume! I hope Sarah enjoys her time away in the UK. x
