Ok, this is one of the toughest posts I’ll write all year – my favourite pics for 2016.
I could take the easy way out and leave you with the best 9 from instagram, but what attracted likes on instagram in 2016 didn’t align with those photos that I liked the best. So, here goes…
Favourite selfie…
Here’s me all dressed up for a 70’s party. You can’t see the full impact of the big hair, but apparently all my hair needs to give it 70s volume is a brush. Who needs the wind machine?
Favourite foot selfie…
I narrowed it down to two: poolside in Legian(above) and poolside in Ubud (below)
Favourite flower pic…
My instagram followers have been subjected to numerous pics of wisteria, wattle, blossoms and magnolias. This one, though – a lotus in Ubud – was my fave for the year…
Favourite beach pic…
This was a toss up between Mooloolaba (above) and Mollymook (below). Both starting with M, both guaranteed to dissolve stress.
Best volcano…
Ok, so there was only one: this one taken at Bali Asli in May. It’s not that often that the top of Mt Agung is not obscured by clouds…
Best pic of Miss T…
Miss T has the frustrating ability to stay out of photos, but I love this one of her on the Mt Kosciusko walk back in March.
Best pic of hubby & I…
Again, there weren’t many to choose from, but this one is ok…I suppose… Again taken at Bali Asli, although this time there are clouds moving across the volcano.
Fave pic of Kali, Adventure Spaniel
Taken just after she’d had her hair & nails done – on a bushwalking at Lake Parramatta.
Best pic taken from the top of a mountain…
This one on Mackinnon Pass on the Milford Track. It hurt.
Best pic taken in drenching rain with wet boots…
No prizes for guessing that this was also on the Milford Track. I love the waterfalls coming off the sheer rock face.
Favourite sunrise pic…
This one in Mooloolaba in July.
Favourite red sky in the morning sunrise…
The shepherd’s warning…yeah, also in Mooloolaba.
Favourite sunset pic…
Guess what? Mooloolaba again.
Favourite wattle pic…
I love love love this photo. To me, it is the Australian bush. Taken in Eucumbene in August, I used it as the cover of the photo recipe book we gave our parents for Christmas: Clancy of the Campfire – the Spirit of the Snowies. Yep, suitably cheesie…
Favourite photo with kids…
This one was also taken in Eucumbene and was used as the back cover for Clancy of the Campfire. It’s my daughter and three of her cousins.
Favourite pic of a hotel…
Lake Crackenback is a fabulous place to stay – especially if you have kids or are into any type of outdoor activity. I told you about it here.
Favourite sweeping landscape pic…
I couldn’t go past this one taken on Mt Stirling, at Craig’s Hut.
Favourite photo of trees…
Yes, I did have a few nominations for this category, but I love these trees – also taken at Mt Stirling…
Favourite temple pic…
Trust me, I took zillions of photos of temples in Bali – as I do – and although this one isn’t the best of those, it is my favourite. There was a ceremony going on in in this small temple in the middle of the rice fields in Ubud. We heard the bells first, pinging across the breeze, and then came across the scene. The whole thing was a reminder of what peace could feel and look like. Actually, that reminds me – I really must remember to blog that walk…it was a good one.
Beautiful!
Thanks!
I remember a lot of these – so many gorgeous shots to choose from and so many memories! My pics all seem to be really repetitive: my books, my view, occasionally food and even more occasionally me. Rinse repeat.
I love this as it’s a reminder of a great year!
I had so many problems deciding between them! Off writing the year in food now…I suspect that will be the same!
