Operation Excess Baggage Week 17

Trivia Crack

So anyways, it’s Saturday afternoon and the rain is pouring down here in Sydney. Again.

In the oven is a pork shoulder that’s slowly cooking away and filling the house with amazing smells. It’s a new recipe I’m trying from this months Delicious magazine. We’ll serve it with roasted chat potatoes and an apple slaw. Yum.

Hubby is watching the Swans- Bulldogs game on the telly, Miss 17 is watching music videos on the other telly, but should be doing her art project, and Kali the Wonder Spaniel is snoring at my feet.

That’s the now, but how about the week that was?

What I’m reading on my kindle…

Drum roll……”Baby It’s You,” written by…another drum roll…me! Yes, I have the kindle files and am reading it to check all is ok. There’s a dedication and acknowledgements and its been three years in the making, and…I’ve run out of ands, I’m so excited! I’m scared too- but that’s another story entirely…

What I wrote…

A back cover blurb- which was surprisingly difficult to write.

Other than that, some (slow) progress was made on manuscript no. 3. I got the first 40,000 words down during last years Nanowrimo, and have since deleted most of them. I’m struggling with viewpoints…still

Where I wrote…

End of month is always chaotic in the partition job. Add in rain and the commute doubles- which means my available outside partition job time is markedly reduced. This week I grabbed lots of small blocks of time. The pic below is me jammed into a table outside the Maths rooms at the local high school where Miss 17 was having some maths tutoring. It was freezing- and the memories brought back were not at all welcome!

What I wish I’d written…

Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death by MC Beaton (a pseudonym). She also wrote Hamish Macbeth, which I also loved. I watched the Agatha telemovie during the week and have now uploaded the first few books in the series. I’ll let you know what I think.

What I’m becoming addicted to…

Trivia Crack. It’s like Trivial Pursuit on your phone. I suspect that as soon as I start to double up on questions that I’ll get sick of it, but for now…

What I’m looking forward to…

Getting on that plane with my husband in just over a weeks time and turning off my phone.

What I’m cooking…

I have family moving in, so meals to stock the freezer with so they can eat when we’re away.

How was your week?

I’m so excited about your novel. I haven’t touched the book I started last NaNoWriMo since then and I’m really out of excuses. It’s not like I don’t have time. I just don’t know why I can’t open the damned document!
