Today, it’s all about the views…
The view at brekky…
Breakfast was at River Kitchen. In case the name isn’t a giveaway, it’s on the river. I had eggs benedict and wrote in my journal.
And afterwards, a walk along the river path to at least make an effort to utilise those calories before they could hit their target. I don’t think it worked…but the views were lovely and I even found some street art.
On the way out of Nelson
Views, views, views. Across the water to snow capped mountains, long sprawling fields of vines and orchards…and sheep.
The view at lunch…
Kaiteriteri, on the beach.
From here you can look across the Tasman Bay to the islands that make up the Marlborough Sounds. I’m pretty sure the mountains in the photo above is Anaru, French Pass…but I’ve never been great on details.
We ate hamburgers and chips and checked out the blue.
Next?
Just around the coast is Marahau. The tide was out. This whole area is known as the Golden Bay region…it’s about the colour of the sands…apparently.
I took a selfie.
Over the mountain…
Takaka Hill is steep and winding, and whenever you have steep and winding hills, you have vistas and lookouts.

Pupu Springs
I told you about this place the other day. Just jawdroppingly beautiful.
Takaka
A cool town. A really cool little town. With cool little shops. I wanted to buy this sign for my One Direction loving 16 year old, but couldn’t work out how to get it home. So I bought a metal kiwi instead.
The view at dinner…
We ate on the waterfront at Harbourlight Bistro. This was the view from our table.
The food was memorable, the sunset was fabulous.
Did I mention the sunset?
The map…
Oh, thanks for adding the map as I don’t know NZ at all. It seems so familiar and yet not, at the same time. Lovely river & ocean vistas BTW.
Wow Jo I just want to go there and am already formalising my ideas for March. Could be following in your shoes…
