There are plenty of great places to eat yum cha in Sydney- Fat Buddha is one of them.

On Level 2 of Queen Victoria Building, the most beautiful place to shop in Sydney (that’s the advertising spiel), Fat Buddha does the standard dim sum delicacies extremely well. Bite size xiao long bao (steamed soupy dumplings), sumptuously filled siu mai, crispy and saltily spiced calamari, silky soft steamed rice noodles.

Anyways, the food is good, the service is good and the surroundings pleasant…and after lunch, there is always shopping. What more could you want from a weekend lunch?

Want other places to have yum cha in the city?

Why not try Marigold or East Ocean In Chinatown, Haymarket, Phoenix in Westfield, Palace in the Piccadilly Centre. The Taiwanese chain Din Tai Fung isn’t Cantonese but does xiao long bao, drunken chicken and wontons in chilli sauce that is well worth queuing for.

LOVE Chinese, but sadly as I’m coeliac, yum cha is almost impossible for me!

    Lovely pics!

A life without yum cha would be indeed devastating. Hope you’re having a great weekend…
